Mohels and Websites

This list is not comprehensive. Nor is it an endorsement of services. The mohels listed are generally speaking traditional and/or Orthodox. Many of their websites have lots of information about Bris Milah and circumcision. Rather than reinventing the wheel, I encourage you to find whatever information you will not find here on their sites. Of course, there are very fine mohels who do not (or choose not to) have a website. They are not listed below.

Caution: Some sites may have too much information. Generally speaking, if you have questions, send me an email or call me and we can talk specifically about what you need to know. It may save you a lot of time over searching through these sites.

California: Lebovics, Davidi, Benzaquen

Colorado: Katz

Florida: Selmar, Barzak, Andron

Georgia: Asa

New York, New Jersey: Katzenstein, Sherman, Heller, Zions, Krohn, Seplowitz, Hepner, Heber (a Chabad site)

Pennsylvania: Trager, Shoulson

Massachusetts: Miara

Maryland, Virginia, DC: Kermaier, Malka

Washington: Bolnick

You can find just about anything by doing a search for "mohel" or "moyel" or "bris" or "bris milah" in Google. There are many blogs in which people talk about their experiences and even about some of these mohels. There are also many Conservative and Reform mohalim and mohalot who have websites with helpful information. (Many Conservative and all Reform mohels are doctors and have much to share about the medical component of circumcision.)

Medical Conditions

The conditions described below are common enough that you may benefit to learn about them. While I make a very strong effort to see every baby before the bris, there are occasions when I (or if you are using this site for education purposes, your mohel) might not see the baby before the bris. Experience has shown that doctors do not always examine the penis and foreskin to see if the baby is ready for circumcision. I have also heard stories of mohels who cancelled the bris right before beginning the ceremony because they discovered the baby had a condition which required surgery. This discovery should always take place before the day of the bris and celebration.

Please note: As the links below describe conditions related to the penis, they may contain photographs or images of a penis in different stages of development.

Pre Circumcision - These conditions are important to look out for. They may cause for a delay of the bris, or even cancellation when surgery is required to repair the anatomy.

Post Circumcision - While most children heal normally and without a problem, some conditions may arise that you should know of, to look out for them in your son.
